These are getting to be so rare that collectors don't know
what they are. Originally these folio stands held sheet music and
could be positioned neatly close to the piano for quick reference.
They could easily be used as stands for magazines or portfolios for artwork.
This walnut Eastlake Victorian example is an exuberant example of decorative
woodworking with incised lines, rosettes, and angular repetitive shapes.
It's a fun piece to enjoy. We don't recommend it for heavy objects
like books.
