Walnut Marble Top China Buffet
(inventory # EE-76)
Richly detailed with a frieze of grapes and grape leaves
twining across the top splash board. Burled accents frame and accent
this piece everywhere. Incised carvings, deep picture frame moldings
and interesting turned and carved columns provide more details for this
very interesting piece. The China/Curio top has two beveled plate
glass doors flanking a central window. The full mirror back reflects
lots of natural light back into the room. The top section sits on
a deep red/brown marble top- in good condition. The base offers a
sectioned drawer in the center for flatware and five other drawers.
Note the Knapps Dovetails used on this piece, patented in the 1870s and
used extensively in the 1880s. Two large open cupboards offer storage
on either side of the central bank of drawers. We have keys for all
the doors, but not necessarily for the drawers. Original brass pulls
showoff more of the Eastlake Oriental influence.
