"Centennial" Desk (inventory # V-23) "Centennial" pieces made in the late 1800's. faithfully copied their 100 year old predecessors from the Chippendale period. You will note the block front with the carved shells on the drawer faces. The gadrooned edges around the bottom have some very nice corner details for the transition. Ball and Claw feet, and the complete interior including the center door with two more drawers behind were more of the classic details. The carved fallboard and the brass and wood gallery were a more 19th century adaptation. Hand selected quarter sawn oak was used, finely crafted cast brass hardware completed the piece.
